The podcast offers a glimpse into the notions of “Genius Loci” and “Genius Gens” - the connection between spirit of the land and spirit of the ancestors, as they are approached in the awarded documentary film “Indigenius Loci”, created with Vasilis Fourkiotis.
“Indigenius Loci” started as a tribute to my homeland in Arcadia. An ancestral landscape. And why ancestral landscapes matter, you might ask. Because these lands intersect both with what remains and the legacy of erasure of culture, language, and history.
The film pursues to acknowledge indigenous cultural narratives and practices, and to regenerate a connection to the paradigms, and cosmologies, also within my own psyche and creative process. Decolonization resides in our own inner landscapes. “Indigenius Loci” stands for the reclamation of power and lineages, geometries and transmissions.
